How Does Your Garden Grow?

I have a confession to make: I love gardening, but I don't really know what I'm doing.

My boys helped me plant a few plants this year.  We got some tomato, basil, cucumber, zucchini, and yellow squash.  They might be kind of squished together.  I added some nice compost to the soil, and I ordered 200 worms.  That should do it, right?  Now, we're just sitting back (picking at weeds) and watching them grow.

But the other day, I noticed that something was beating me to my harvest.

I don't want to turn to traditional pesticides. The whole purpose of growing my own veggies is to enjoy healthier options. Instead, I got a small bottle of water and added about 20 drops of TerraShield essential oil blend. I sprayed all my plants. I'll check back from time to time to make sure it's doing its job.  And hopefully, within a few weeks, there will be enough basil for pesto. :)

Do you have any gardening tips for someone with a not-so-green thumb?  I'd love to hear them!

A little dish soap in a spray bottle with some water. Shake up and spray on the leaves.

Jacquline, thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it a try, too.

My sweetie is the gardener here. I am the harvester. That part I'm good at.

Haha, Mom of 12 -- sounds like a great arrangement. :) Maybe I should ask you for recipes, instead. And I've got my fingers crossed that we'll have a harvest this year.

I wish I could give you some tips, but I can't grow squat. I even kill every cactus I buy. It's just sad lol. I did plant some flowers last month. No sooner than I did my husband came in and told me to go look at them. There was a bunny munching away at them.

Good luck with your garden! I hope you have much success :)

Thanks for stopping by Theresa’s Mixed Nuts

I am following you in gfc.

Thanks for following, Theresa. :) You'll have to let me know what kind of flowers you planted, in case I want to attract bunnies.

Good for you, MomEO, wish I could do gardening. Unfortunately, where I'm at now it's not a possibility. You go girl, lol!!

Michelle, I know, right? Luckily plants have a survival instinct, too. :)

Thanks so much, Dixie! My best defense against snails is boys. :) It's worked so far! Now, if I can just get them to leave the worms alone.
